FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: How many pupils do you intend to look for this year?
A: We are presently looking for up to 5 pupils to join our ranks.

Q: What is your retention rate?
A: We recruit pupils with every intent to retain suitable candidates as legal associates upon their admission to the Singapore Bar.

Q: When should I apply for my pupillage position?
A: If you are a local student, you should do so after completing your third year of law school during the June holidays or as and when your class committee informs you that you may do so. If you are a foreign university law graduate, you should apply for pupillage after you complete your law degree overseas but before you pursue your Diploma in Singapore Law programme in NUS. We do not distinguish between local and foreign graduates from approved universities in relation to an application for a pupillage position.

Q: Who will I be working for during my pupillage?
A: All pupils will be given a pupil master and be assigned to a mentor. The mentor will be in charge of guiding and supervising you during your stay in the corporation.

Q: Will I be rotated?
A: Yes, depending on the needs and requirements of our corporation, pupils can request to be assigned to 2 areas of practice during the course of their 6 month pupillage with us.

Q: Can I choose not to rotate and spend my entire pupillage in 1 area of practice?
A: Yes you may, depending on the needs and requirements of the particular area of practice.

Q: Will I be part-called?
A: Depending on the needs and requirements of our corporation, we encourage each and every pupil to be part-called as this would increase your exposure to legal practice during your pupillage.

Q: What if I do not want to be part-called or have no interest in litigation? Will my allowance differ from another pupil who has been part-called?
A: You are under no obligation to be part-called if you do not wish to be so. Even if you are not part-called, you can expect a corresponding increase to your allowance as would another pupil in the corporation who has been part-called.

Q: What are your official office hours?
A: Our office is open from Mondays to Fridays from 9:00am to 6:15pm and we are closed on Saturdays.

Q: Do you have a dress code?
A: Our dress code is office attire during office hours from Mondays to Thursdays and smart casual on "dress-down" Fridays. Please note that if you have client meetings, functions or Court to attend on a Friday, your dress code will be office attire.
